The Hole In One of The Week

Mo Money, Mo Problems?

If more money really equals more problems… then HVIII (Harold Varner III) is having a terrible week…

For his win this weekend at the LIV Golf event in Washington, DC he took home an impressive top prize of $4 million.

To top it off, his Rangegoats (I can’t help but laugh every time I hear this team name) team finished in 3rd place in the team competition helping HVIII take home an additional $125,000.

His first win on the LIV tour brought his total earnings for the year to $7,565,666.

In 191 events on the PGA Tour spanning almost 10 years, HVII made a total of $10,618,502.

There have been rumblings of remorse from some former PGA Tour players who chose to join live over the past year.

After this weekend… I doubt Harold is one of them.

Having money isn’t everything, not having it is.

Sunday also saw Emiliano Grillo end an almost 8-year drought atop the leaderboard on the PGA Tour after his playoff victory over Adam Schenk (is this a terrible golf name or a great one? Hope he never gets a case of the shanks…).

For his victory, Emiliano received $1,566,000, a solid Sunday paycheck for any professional athlete.

It’s wild to think Harold made more than 2.5x what Emiliano did in a smaller field event that only played 3 rounds…

Like it or not… these numbers may make it easier to understand why many of the defectors from the PGA to LIV decided to jump ship.

Make more money in 2 years than your entire career previously… it’s hard to say no to that.

Harold Varner III after this weekend…

Who is your pick at the Memorial this weekend ?!
